Ain't We Got Fun

To keep my mind as flexible and maleable as silly putty, I maintain regular pet projects to keep the creative engine revved.

Insomnibaking

In 2010, I took a batter-covered wood spoon to my disastrous relationship with sleep.  Where herbal tea, warm baths, and boring books had utterly failed, baking proved to be a soothing way to calm the voices and end the day with a feeling of completion and serenity.  Under the pen name The Insomnibaker, I detail my adventures in the kitchen, in romance and in life.  Not for the gastronomically snobbish or for those who clutch a handkerchief at the sight of a curse word or three, my rough-and-tumble style of humor focuses on the rough edges of life that creep ever closer in the dark hours of the night.

Megan's House of Uke

Despite turning away from the life of the career performer, I cannot help but love the ukulele.  With it's sweet-sounding tones and ease of use, I have joined the throngs of nerdy Brooklyn girls who croon cover versions of Journey and Lady Gaga into the howling void of the internet.  Head on over to Megan's House of Uke for more plinkity-plunkity goodness.

Zelda

While this perhaps doesn't count as a "project", anyone who knows me well will eventually learn about my obsession with The Legend of Zelda.  Occasionally, to decompress from stressful days or particularly long stretches of wall-to-wall work, I have been known to play Ocarina of Time all the way through.  Non-stop.  Completing all the side-quests.  There's a Triforce on each ankle.  I could make an argument that it compliments my personal philosophy that anything worth having in life is worth searching for, but mostly I'm in it for the heart pieces.
